Kristineberg Center is an open partnership founded to accelerate the transition to a sustainable blue economy. The mission is to advance the implementation of research and knowledge.
We unite actors, enhance and co-develop resources and initiatives, and boost co-operation and co-creation by acting as an intermediary between academia, the public sector, and industry.
The oceans face many challenges, but at the same time, there are many opportunities for making better use of marine resources and contributing to sustainable development. That’s why seven actors founded Kristineberg Center. The goal is to accelerate sustainable blue growth and at the same time, contribute to achieving the environmental goals and sustainable development goals regarding the ocean and water.
Kristineberg Center for Marine Research and Innovation was initiated in 2017 by the University of Gothenburg, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Chalmers University of Technology, RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute, Innovatum Science Park, and the Municipality of Lysekil with initial support from Region Västra Götaland, and the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management.
The centre is physically located at the historic marine research station Kristineberg, west of Fiskebäckskil in Sweden.
Kristineberg Center offers a marine research and innovation environment including infrastructure and services for researchers, companies, entrepreneurs, and the public sector. We also initiate national and international research projects and participate in strategic initiatives for a sustainable blue economy.
